I've gone there a few times now in the mornings with a group (3-4 people) and service has been great, delicious specials for a reasonable price. I recommend.

Stopped in at Lola's for dinner. The place only had two other customers so my sister and I were not sure what to expect. When this place was called Chickies the food was just so so. I ordered the tilapia florentine and was surprised when the waitress offered me a choice of broccoli, cauliflower or asparagus. There was also a choice of potato or rice and soup or salad. I ordered the loaded potato soup which I intended to ony eat a few spoonfuls of. I finished the bowl. My sister had the chicken dumpling soup which she said was good not great. She ordered the fried shrimp and fries. We both felt that the food was very good, but what impressed me even more was the presentation. My fresh asparagus spears was wrapped in a thin band of carrot. It almost looked like ribbon and my sisters shrimp actually was placed along the edge of the plate in two layers making room for the large serving of fries. Service was excellent during our visit. Drink refills were offered before we had to ask. Prices were reasonable for what we had. Will definately be going back.

I eat here from time to time and always have a good experience. (mostly order breakfast foods) The food is always good, and you get a good value as far as portion size to cost is concerned. It looks like the 1950's and is a different feel about it, but I like that sometimes. Plus you get fresh food unlike the chain stores.

Classic diner with great prices! Love their breakfast.

They are still a good bang for your buck with good food.

50s diner kitschy cute! Black and white checkerboard tiles and teal seating! It was just about full. We got a booth. I customized a veg. nest, at no extra charge. My friend ordered a veg. omelette (good) and coffee (ok). My order got messed up and they immediately took care of it and made me another one. Our waitress and cleaning staff came around asking how everything was many times! Good food & service...will be back for more of that!

We recently discovered Lola's and super happy we did! Great value (breakfast for 2 adults, 2 kids - $30 with tip) and straight up good food. I love the cinnamon raisin French toast. Have only tried breakfast, but would certainly like to give lunch or dinner a try. Service is decent, fast and efficient. It's a family owned restaurant, which I think is nice. Happy to have a cute diner to hit up with the Fam!

Super cute restaurant. Co-workers like to come here often and sometimes i order over the phone and get carry out. They have nice weekly lunch specials that come with soup, entree, side and soft drink for $6.65. I love me some BLT's! The waitresses are sweet and its usually packed when i come to pick up my order so it must be a neighborhood favorite for sure. I know as long as im working down the street ill always have Lola's to save me on the days i dont pack my lunch.

Just what you want from a diner. Great variety of food, done quick and at good prices. Solid cup of coffee. Nicely lit throwback feel, and the staff has a weary familial air that comes from protracted success and sore feet. Good counter banter between regulars, staff and passers-through. I keep ordering the Southern Benedict, for a few reasons. One: properly poached eggs are hard to come by and you get three perfect ones. Gravy over hollandaise, any time, any where. The tomato slices perfectly complement the patties of spicy sausage. Altogether a knockout of a Benedict. This is 5-10 minutes from The Rivers casino. I hit a six-number Fire bet in craps one morning when I decided to eat at Lola's, first. At 1000-1, that breakfast was one of the best decisions I ever made!

Solid diner. With clean and recently refreshed decor, this is not a dingy roadside "greasy spoon" by any means. Service is up and down, fast and slow, mostly fine but sometimes inattentive. The food comes out quickly, but is always fresh and hot, so clearly made to order. One thing that really bothers me is that the coffee server comes around every few minutes (seriously, back off--there is only a half-inch of space at the top of the cups), but our water glasses go unattended through the entire meal. During one recent visit, my cup was empty for almost the entire time, and I didn't even get a refill after asking for it. I asked again, saying "we" both times to indicate the whole table, but only one glass was delivered. It's summer, it's hot, and people are thirsty. Even in any weather this is such a basic element of restaurant service. And both times I had to ask the coffee girl instead of our waitress, who rushed past the table several times but never stopped to check in after the food was dropped off. So anyway, thank goodness that the food is delicious. The vegetarian omelet is chock-full of vegetables. The Denver omelet is chock-full of vegetables and ham--real ham too. The italian skillet is really good, but the sausage is NOT italian; this made me very sad. The pancakes are fluffy and delightful, plain, wholegrain, and chocolate chip. I love a place that offers pancakes as a starch side to savory dishes. Portions are generous--big omelettes and the stack of pancakes numbers five. I always have enough leftovers for a second meal. Lola's is really a 3.5 (get the water straight and I would go to 4) but I have to round up because the food is reliable and this has become our go-to breakfast spot after living nearby for only a couple of months.

I've gotta say, I really like Lola's for breakfast. They have an excellent selection of hearty and delicious things to choose from. Many varieties of pancakes, waffles, omelets, skillets. If you can't find something you like, you don't like breakfast. Of particular note was an apple pancake they had on special once that is worth fighting for. Portions are good, prices are OK, service is friendly but it gets busy on the weekends so you sometimes have to be patient. The atmosphere is kitschy 1950s-ish diner - surprise, surprise. Go. Have a good time. Leave with a full belly.

Food was awesome, but they get 5 stars for having a dedicated coffee server making rounds in the restaurant. I've never seen it before and it's outstanding

Lola's Diner is a fun brunch spot. I love the teal chairs, the checkered floors and the retro table top. It's a great place to go if you want a casual dining experience. Portion sizes here are very generous. For instance, if you were to order the omelette, you'd definitely get a big one (think something like 3-4 eggs used) and they are generous with the ingredients. The meal also comes with potatoes and pancakes (other sides available if you request them). The serving ladies are very prompt with the coffee. The minute you sit down, you'd get a pour and they are constantly checking back to make sure your cup is full. This is a great neighborhood gem and you should definitely take your out-of-town visiting friends and relatives here on any morning!

Great food and service! Cute local diner. Haven't had a bad meal here and we eat here often breakfast and lunch.

A cliche in the best possible way! I had the nest, which is sausage, scrambled eggs and cheese rolled in hash browns, really good! But the pancakes oh my god the pancakes, I would write them a haiku if I knew how, maybe even erect a monument! Fluffy perfectly sweet ,light. bundle of joy in your mouth.

We were in the area and decided to stop here for breakfast. So glad we did. One - i love the decor. Two - I loved the food. It's diner food but a notch above...I had an egg, ham and cheese biscuit and it was so filling and good. Husbo had biz and gravy and it was really good as well. The next time we're in Park Ridge around bfast, i'll go here.

I LOVED the decor here. It was a blast from the past. Really felt like I was in the 1950s. I came here for breakfast/brunch and the service was quick, affordable and friendly. I swear, they must have refilled my bottomless coffee like 5-6 times even though it never got below half a cup. The hubby and I split "the Nest" which as they describe on the menu is "A layer of shredded hash browns wrapped around scrambled eggs with cheese and onions. Your choice of bacon, ham or sausage". We ended up splitting this between the two of us and it was more than enough. We still had leftovers by the end of our meal! We also ordered a side of pancakes and fruit. I was impressed by the fruit side dish (blueberries, blackberries, cantaloupe, honey dew, pineapples, the whole shebang). I was expecting it to come out on a small bowl but it actually came out on a full plate! Nice diner in the area. I'd recommend.

The service was prompt and friendly. Lively patrons who enjoyed their visit. The crepes were good. The menu is large with many good choices. Past reviews led me here. It was worth the visit.

Great neighborhood diner. I go at least once in two weeks. Food is good quality....and everything you would expect at a diner. However I wish they had more American specials like turkey dinners and chicken dinners for lunch.

We have gone to Lola's many time for breakfast and usually get seated pretty quickly. At times you have to flag someone for attention though. The food portion are very generous and really good. They need work on their crepes, tried them twice and they are a tsateless soggy thin pancake. Nice staff, large menu and child friendly earns this restuarant 4 stars.

The decor was great! Very clean. The service was top notch. The food was very good!! Will definitely be coming back! We went for breakfast and will like to go back for dinner to see how good that is.

Worst breakfast I've ever had. Horrible service and horrible food. I ordered and I'm left from lunch I asked the waiter to remove the onions and somehow they forgot to do that. My has been ordered and let with extra bacon and instead of extra bacon he had extra sausage. The eggs were overcooked on the outside and undercooked in the middle. The only cute thing about this place are the booths. The place was decorated and tacky St. Patrick's Day ornamentsthat added nothing valuable to the interior design. We received a check without being asked if there was anything else we needed and if we were okay with the meal that we had in front of us. I am never going to this place again.

This is a nice diner. We went on a Saturday morning around brunch time and had only a 5 min wait before we were seated ( party of 2). The food was reasonably priced and it was very fast service. I like the look of the place and everything we ordered was prepared well and tasted great.

From reading reviews, I guess I expected more. I was part of a woman's group that met there for breakfast - a total of 12 of us. They were prompt with the coffee, took our orders quickly and in order of how we were sitting, but then the stuff came out in weird spurts. The waitress was shouting things like "ok, who had the American omelet / who had the whole wheat toast?". The lady next to me, and myself each ordered Lola's swedish pancakes, she asked for hers to have strawberries only, instead of the wildberries advertised. When she shouted "who had the Lola's ?", we both said we did. The plates were completely different. After much confusion, and a good 10 minute wait, I think I actually had Lola's crepes and the other woman got the plain swedish pancakes w/lingonberries. We finally just gave up and ate them since the waitress was confused, and since it was our first visit, so were we. Others at the table seemed to like their breakfast, although only a few took leftovers, the rest just gave their half-filled dishes back to the waitress. I'd probably give it another try, this time with only one or two people with me. Maybe they can't handle larger groups like that. Decor was cute, the place looked clean and bright.

I have come to love this little gem of a place in a big way!! The food is awesome with lots of variety, the place is extremely CLEAN!! and there is even an old fashion counter for you to sit at! Love it! The Lola's Swedish Pancakes with Lingonberry's are outstanding! The stuffed French Toast, stuffed with bananas & berries and granola for crunch, is another great choice! Great breakfast specials during the week, and the price is very reasonable!

This little restaurant tucked along the tracks was an excellent find. Very friendly staff and excellent food. Don't pass this place up give it a try.

Definitely a cute, kitschy old school diner with 1950s style diner decor. Food was average to good with a pretty varied menu, prices were low (most entrees are $6-8!), service was a little off, and the parking lot was small. No wait when we came here on a Saturday around 11:30 AM.

  • Howard L.

This old style hole-in-the wall diner hit the spot for us. Good coffee ($1.70) and good value here. Wife had their special - three eggs and pancakes for $3.25. I had a large American omelet (corned beef hash) and fluffy fresh pancakes for $7.25. Owner lady was friendly. Service was a little slow, but with the value here, really no complaints. We'll be back when in area.

I love Lola's! After driving past Lola's for years my boyfriend and I finally made a point to stop and check it out! Such a cute atmosphere, reminds me of a 50's diner. The staff is so nice and friendly! We have eaten breakfast lunch and dinner and have pleased each time! The omlets are fantastic, also have great soup! Definetely recommend this diner to anyone! Family friendly as well!

Lola's is the kind of local diner place that allows you to substitute anything on the menu and never leaves you Unsatisfied. Its predictable and has good portion sizes with extraordinary prices! We are always pleased when we go there and there is something for everyone in the family on the menu.

Friday night dinner with a friend. I ordered the hot beef-see pic- was very good. Service waitress, was super attentive, but then again it was before 5pm and we were the only patrons for half of our visit. She offered extra gravy for my hot beef. Friend ordered a grilled cheese said it was good (if you mess up a grilled cheese...then there is no hope for you) and enjoyed the chicken rosmarina soup. For as attentive as the waitress was, that all went to hell when she was preoccupied on a personal phone call and we waited too long for our check. Very reasonable prices and they have some really cheap breakfast plates. I will go back again.

As far as diners go, this little hole-in-the-wall is doing everything right. - Friendly waitresses - Cheap eats - Large portions - Very clean - Accepts phone orders and carryout (if you're short on time, this may be your best option. They get busy during lunch and dinner rush periods) - Vegetarian and low-carb friendly (veggie burgers, wraps, and stuffed portabellas; bunless burgers for the latter) Busse Highway is pretty quiet and desolate, so it's nice to have some action where other businesses have failed. If you live in the neighborhood, find yourself at the Dee Road Metra station, or need something to do while your car is being worked on at Skylark Garage, this is a great way to kill some time and fill your tummy with simple, tasty diner fare.

This was a place I found via yelp while I was working in the area. Cute spot with a 50s inspired diner look. Staff was friendly and attentive and the service was quick. I rate mostly based off taste and that's where it lost a couple of stars. I had the stuffed french toast with a side of sausage. It was just ok. The filling was cold so I could tell it came from a can. The sausage tasted like it was reheated. I would give this place another try and maybe try the eggs or something different.

  • Julie C.

I've been here twice now, and I love this place. It's a hole-in-the-wall that doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside you'll find great, cheap diner food and a cute, '50s-style atmosphere. I've had a bacon cheeseburger for lunch and pancakes for breakfast, and both were delicious. Portions are big, so you'll probably have leftovers to take home. Somehow I've managed to get the only unfriendly waitress who works here on both visits, but while she may not have had a smile or a "how are you?" for us, she was good at her job, so I can't complain. The parking lot is tiny, but I haven't had trouble getting a space. Street parking is also available.

The wife and I came back for dinner this time and the restaurant was clean & tidy as usual. Service was great and on point. I saw prime rib was a special and ordered that knowing it would be a decent meal and the wife had half a chick meal. All came w soup or salad and choice of starch. Soup was corn chowder w chick broth base and was delish not like the wallpaper glue at Omega on Golf Rd while the wife had a salad which was cold, crisp and asst cucumber & tomatoes not just a head of lettuce that some do. The beef was similar to pot roast in flavor and texture which was good, I have teeth. the wife's dinner was appetizing as well. Both dinners s/h been hot and were warm to luke-warm even the fries were warm. Lola is doing the best they can keeping the food fresh and tasty. They have a talented staff. Coffee is good and plentiful.

I am careful in writing five star reviews, but this one truly deserves it! This place is family owned and operated. Each time, I come in here, I always get the three eggs and pancakes. They are so good. I also like there coffee as well.

This place reopened as Lola's Diner, had flounder stuffed with crab. Quite tasty, good service. On second visit, had the gyro platter, generous portions and very good service.

I've been going to Lola's with co workers for over a year and the at first the visits for lunch were perfect but the last couple of months, the service has been ridiculous. They can't seem to get enough good help and the staff that is there are very slow and over worked. The staff also does not know how to maintain a moderate temperature in the place. Every single time we've been in there it has been freezing cold and we have to ask them to make it warmer. I highly doubt that we will be back unless they can hire and maintain a decent wait staff. One suggestion would be to hire a bus boy to help clean up tables and not rely on the overworked staff to handle cleanup and take orders and be on top of their jobs. It's sad that we won't be back since they do have decent food, but I only have an hour for lunch and it takes that long to get someone to take our order, deliver the order and get our check and we are rush to eat to get back in time because of the service.

Had breakfast for the first time since Chickies closed at this restaurant. It was a very pleasant experience. I had the Skirt Steak Skillet, which was delicious. Two of my friends had the Swedish Pancakes and they raved about them. Overall the food was really good, and the service excellent. I did not give this place five stars because I have been there only once. If they demonstrate consistently that their service is good I will up the rating. I will definitely return there for another visit.

Average. Average food, average prices, average service. Wouldn't avoid, wouldn't shun. Never had breakfast so maybe that's an exceptional area.

Lola's Diner in Park Ridge is very, very good. Two of the times my family and I visited I tried the specials and they were fabulous. I loved the Chicken A La King and their breakfasts are great. Large portion omelettes with great hash browns! Please tell all your friends to visit!

After about a year of vacancy when Chickie's closed, Lola's took over the place. Though it took a while for them to take down the old Chickie's sign and update it with their new one, it's finally happened. Affiliated with Sunrise in Des Plaines, one of my other area faves, Lola's definitely has the menu offerings to match, and at a good price too. They also have longer hours than Chickie's, which was a breakfast & lunch only place. By being open longer, they attract a dinner crowd and probably will have a better chance of surviving. So why only 3 stars? SERVICE. Seems they can't quite put it together just yet. We've been here a couple times now but it seems they can't get things exactly right. For example, on a Saturday visit around 12:30, we ordered Diet Cokes. My son is type 1 diabetic so we count on it being correct. It was not when my wife tasted it just to be sure. And on the same visit, she ordered a Granola French Toast. What she got was a very tasty French toast but no granola. We were wondering if it was a side dish to sprinkle the granola yourself that she did not receive. Since the waitress conveniently disappeared for most of the meal, we couldn't find out. When she came back at the end, she told us the granola gives the French toast a completely different flavor than what my wife had. When she returned later, the waitress explained the cook was unfamiliar with some of the menu items and forgot to prepare it right. Since he didn't get it exactly right, you'd think she would deduct it or offer an extra to make amends. Not so. The final bill reflected the granola as if it we got what we ordered correctly. Now this was a not-too-busy Saturday, imagine the possibilities for bad service at peak lunch or dinner. Overall, I think they have a good menu and it seems their dishes offer a generous serving with leftovers for later to take home. My kids like the food too. This can be 4 or 5 stars if they only get their service to improve.

Wonderful place. It has the look of an old diner from the 50's. Reasonable prices, very good food, and friendly staff. We just ate there for breakfast. We will need to go there for diner.

Lola's Diner is just that - a Diner. The food is good and the prices are right. My only yelp is that the servers tend to stand around near the kitchen area and talk to each other or to the patrons at the bar. A little better and faster service and I would give it 4 stars.

  • Jeff C.

This place is next to Skylark Garage (gets good yelp reviews as well) and I happened to need car work done here. So I popped in to cool off and decided what the heck and ordered breakfast while my wife came to pick me up. Glad I did the feta omlet was great and the pancakes (2 very large ones) were very good and I am a pancake lover so I have tasted many and these rate up there with the best. Good prices and a lot of food for the money as I was stuffed. My wife then decided to order a skillet with corn beef hash and that was delicious as well. And the server was very attentive and really working hard. My daugther also ordered choc. chip pancakes and these were really an adult portion for kids prices and had chips in the cakes and even on top. I will certainly be coming back to try their lunch and dinners. And definitely for breakfast. Also I substituted 2 ingredients in the omlet and the server and cook did not miss a beat and its exactly like I ordered it and food came out quick.
